Cali-based Fashion Designer slash Winemaker, Megan Sekermestrovich, navigates the industry through an outsider’s lens. With no formal training or apprenticeships, her approach to natural wine is curiosity-driven and holistically-minded.

Lula produces vision-backed wines that aim to support responsible land stewardship and an equitable industry ecosystem. All Lula wines use sustainably farmed fruit, native yeast fermentation, and are zero-zero, in that there are no additions to the wine. Just a grape show here.

Spontaneous by nature, you never know when the next drop will be, making every season “Lula Season.” Follow along @itslulaseason and be sure to snag a bottle or two from one of our favorite shops!

Hi, I’m Megan, the winemaker behind Lula.

With a background in the Fashion Industry, I found the grit over glamour of the Natural Wine world both compelling and familiar. As a curious, but also nosey consumer, it didn’t take long for these curiosities to unfold into career-altering pursuits.

When I met Noel Diaz of Purity Wine at the Richmond Co-op, I’d shown up for a tasting and left with an invitation to make something of my own. The next week I was buying grapes and my label Lula took shape. I debuted Lula State Flower 2019, a carbonic Valdiguié, at Bay Area wine fairs By The Way and WINeFare SF.

Pursuing avenues beyond winemaking, I took on opportunities in Sebastopol, CA suckering steep rows of biodynamic Pinot Noir just as veraison began, and in Dallas, TX at a thriving bottle shop selling natural wines firsthand.

Lula is the culmination of the path I’m paving for myself in this industry and I can’t wait to share a glass with you.
